Creative Corner Submissions for March:

Missing My Daddy by Cindy K. Stewart-Sampson

In memory of her father, Gordon L. Stewart

We weren’t allowed to say our goodbyes,
But, I see you in my little girl’s eyes,
I remember getting that horrific call,
Receiving the news I’d feared most of all,
I thought that I would never sleep that night,
But, I felt your hands holding mine tight.

On my first visit to your tombstone,
I had anticipated feeling very alone,
But, a tiny bird perched on your side of the tombstone’s double heart,
Which you share with mom so that you will never be apart,
I know that you sent that bird to say,
“Don’t worry, honey, your Daddy is okay.”

People often say that death is for the best,
But, living without you is a strenuous test,
I try to keep your memory alive,
I donate each year to the cancer drive.

Many contend that your passing was a part of God’s plan,
But, why would God take such a wonderful man?
Each day brings me closer to reuniting with you,
Without that knowledge, I don’t what I would do.

I know that you want me to go on with my life,
I strive daily to be a good mother and wife,
But, I dream of the day when none of us remain earthly bound,
And my “Daddy” I will have eternally found.
Cindy with her father.

A Choice by Alan Fisher

Let your light shine for others to see
People receive your feelings vibrationally
If you're complaining and feeling down
It affects family, friends and all those around

But if you're centered and in the flow
The ripples go out to everyone you know
You have a choice about what to express
Heal the world or add to the mess

There's a spiritual evolution happening now
A state of being, no sweat of the brow
No guns or protests, for it's not out there
You sense it within and become aware
